Letter from Jim Ogilvie Head Forester at Strathmashie to Geoff Newsom
The image has been provided by Stephen Newsom, Aberdour, who has typed up a letter written to his father Geoff Newsom by Jim Ogilvie Head Forester at Strathmashie three years after Geoff had been transferred south. Geoff had been Head Forester at Corrour Forest from 1968 to end of 1971.
There is obvious great empathy between Jim and Geoff on the issues of Corrour Forest management. While an issue on inappropriate species choice is directed towards the Conservator, Bob Innes, the person being confronted at a site meeting has not been identified.
The Richard referred to was Richard McKinnon, the keeper, who was getting on in years. George Nairn the other keeper based at Fersit was the husband of Mrs Nairn named in the letter.
