Drumlaw - Glentrool Forestry Village
The images are from Joan Park who was born in this house. Her father, Hamish, was a forester at that time based in Glentrool Forest and stayed here until 1963 before moving house up to Stroan. This was the house allocated to foresters – a detached building one of two in the village the other being that for the school teacher.
Joan and her brother attended the local school which will feature in other photographs on this website. Joan recalls this house being of the exact same design as one they stayed in at Fowlis Wester, near Crieff, when Hamish later moved to Keillour Forest.
The office for Glentrool Forest was a little way out of the village at the Shieling and located close to the Head Foresters house and other administrative and storage buildings.

Happy times, mostly. The FC and village were still a close knit community then. Comment left on 01 June 2021 at 21:21 by Julian Pitt
