Retirement of Andrew Sim at Laigh of Moray Forest
The photograph is courtesy of Myra Younie who maintained a collection of Forestry Commission event and retirement photographs when she worked in the forestry offices in Morayshire. Note that LOM refers to Laigh of Moray forest Unit which included Culbin, Monaughty, Roseisle as well as Newton.
The occasion is a presentation to Andrew Sim on his retirement after 42 years service with the Forestry Commission including six years with the Home Grown Timber Production Department. Duncan Menzies remembers him well “Andy Sim stayed at Torriston. He was a lorry driver and, as his lorry had a Hiab, he loaded lots of Ogilvie pulp lorries. A great guy.
Robbie Allan was a Monaughty man pre amalgamation. I mind he told me used to look after contractor’s horses at weekends way back in year oatcake. He lived on Hillside Road. The stable was just below my house at Garrowslack - no horses in my time only bits of harness and wasp bikes”.
