Retirement of Arthur McBeath and marriage of Margaret Phillip

Arthur McBeath has been presented with gifts from his work colleagues and a long service certificate from Bob Roberts, Chief Executive Officer East Conservancy, on his retirement after 33 years with the Forestry Commission.
Margaret Phillip has received gifts from her colleagues on her impending marriage. The location is the combined Forest Offices of Laigh of Moray and Forest Research Newton at Newton Nursery.

A note from Duncan Menzies on staff responsibilities at this period in Laigh of Moray highlights some of the changes that occurred. “Lachie was Head Forester for Forest Management roughly 1972-77 prior to which he was in charge of Newton Nursery (Sandy Macintosh came to Newton in 72 and took charge of Nursery). I was Head Forester Harvesting and Marketing from 1971-77. Alastair Scott, District Officer, decided to swap Lachie and me around so I took on Forest Management duties from 1977 – 82 and Lachie took on the Harvesting duties. I left Laigh of Moray to take over as Chief Forester at Durris Forest in 1982”
Laigh Of Moray was a Chief Forester Post made up from a number of formerly separate Forests and Newton Nursery. The Forests included Monaughty and Newtyle amalgamated forests, Roseisle and Newton amalgamated forests and Culbin Forest, the three units coming together in 1971/72.
