Tractor and Vibrating Roller at Elibank Forest
The photograph is courtesy of Iain Gale, mobile plant manager with James Jones at Lockerbie, who started his forestry career as a Forest Craftsman chainsaw operator in 1981 at Forestry Commission Dalbeattie Forest and onwards to Harvesting Foreman at Kielder FD.
Iain comments:
“Forestry Commission East Roads Engineering County 1174 with Vibrating roller at Elibank Forest. I believe this was one of very few Hydraulic rollers made (maybe by FC Engineering?), as most were Stothart and Pitt diesel engine versions. This County was sold at auction around 1988, and I am told it was bought by Jas P Wilson the County specialists, refurbished and sold it to the Bahamas!”
