Photograph is courtesy of David Sutherland, Aberchirder, who is seen here carrying out the deer cull possibly on Creagan near Benmore Forest. Dave later transferred to Buchan Forest District and worked in the Huntly area.

The stag on the back is a Sika deer, an introduced species which spread from the original captive colony that was held in the Deer Park at Rosehall near Lairg sometime between the two World Wars. Quite a secretive deer it never the less caused very severe damage to many tens of thousands of young 10-20 feet high forest trees by stripping off and eating the bark.

In the back ground is the prominent mountain of Ben More Assynt.

Trivial in the scheme of things I know, and part of me thinks if the person in the photo submitted the photo then they are very likely to know where it was taken but if the mountain in the background being referred to as Ben Mor Assynt is the one in the distant right, then it looks very much more like An Teallach in Wester Ross then BMA.
