Forestry Memories

Alltcailleach Forest Staff 1950

Photograph provided by Alistair Cassie whose father, George, and grandfather, Adam, worked in the Forestry Commission for most of their working lives.

This group gathering will have most likely taken place near to the office and sawmill complex at what was previously part of the Birkhall Estate. The sawmill site and much of the hill land was on a long term lease to the Forestry Commission following World War 2 until the early 1980s.
