Eilanreach Forest – Glenn Beag
One of a series of maps and drawings found in old ex military map cases stored in the loft of the Fort August Forest office and recovered by Grant Macintosh.
Here two adjoining maps have been brought together to show the whole of the Glenn Beag forest area with the soil survey colouration and comments with the later compartments details added.
From memory the eastern end of the forest may have had some limestone or serpentine influence as the tree growth was very spectacular. In the late 1970s the Sitka spruce was certainly some of the best that I had seen at that point.
