Planting Glenrigh Forest

This image was taken from the final Journal of the Forestry Commission published in 1969 and was in George Stewart’s collection. The image was from a photograph taken by A D S Macpherson and as described looks out over Loch Leven to Glencoe Forest, Glencoe village and road that leads into the famous Gen itself.
The writer can just remember some of the Glenrigh Forest workers about this time of 1969 visiting the workshops at Torlundy one of whom was very tall but name forgotten. The other man memorable for his distinctive accent was Jack Critch originally from Newfoundland but again the circumstances of his placement at Glenrigh are not known. The head forester was Jim Hislop assisted by Bill MacKintosh and wildlife ranger Neil Maclean.
