Eilanreach Forest vegetation and soil survey
One of a series of maps and drawings found in old ex military map cases stored in the loft of the Fort August Forest office and recovered by Grant Macintosh.
Eilanreach Forest appears to have covered the various Forestry Commission areas on the coastal area south of Glenelg village. These included the forest areas in Glenn Beag and those down the narrow single track road to Arnisdale on the side of Loch Hourn. This soil and vegetation survey of Glenn Beag and an area next to Glenelg Bay has been used to show the new planting compartments and species in Glenn Beag.
The area on the coast may have been sold to Bryant and May at some point but not sure. The area is getting near to Ring of Bright Water territory. Lots of vegetation species short names and also details of problem areas for planting including deep peat, rocks, steep slopes etc.
