Photograph courtesy of William Fleming, Polmont who worked in Strathyre Forest as an apprentice Forest Craftsman and retrieved this image from an unknown local magazine.

Fred Menzie and Bill Dye having a piece break outside a sawmill site at Immervoulin round about 1950. The logs stacked behind the men look like hardwoods perhaps some are birch but the speckle of snow may be creating that impression.
Bill Dye worked in the Forestry (Commission?) for forty four years and retired to Strathyre.

Note the ex-army piece bags, two flasks and just in view the tin or aluminium piece box.

Any more details and also name of original photographer would be very welcome.

My father worked as a schoolboy for the Forestry Commission in 1941 as part of the war effort. It was arranged through his school in Glasgow.
Am wondering if you have any photos of schoolboys from that time?
They worked at a sawmill just south of Strathyre above the banks of Loch Lubnaig.
