Photograph is courtesy and copyright of Forestry Commission, Forest Research, Roslin, and provided with help from Glen Brearley. FR Photo number No B4535 taken by Roger Lines.
Text reads: ‘Grafting European larch onto potted root stocks. Note how the root stocks have been brought on in heated frames and are fully flushed while the scion has been kept in cold storage and not yet flushed.
The lady worker doing the grafting has tied the graft in place with plastic tape and is now painting on grafting wax to seal the joint.’
Does anyone know the name of the lady?

Form Goes Here
The larch scions were collected whilst dormant and stored below ground in a pit in the Scots pine plantation which surrounded the nursery.
The pit was protected from predators by being protected with small mesh wire netting. The scions were taken out daily, the lid replaced and the original layer of pine litter carefully placed back in position to maintain a low frost proof temperature in the pit.
