A good image of branchlets for vegetative propagation, in this case of Sequoia sempervirens, being collected the hard way with a very long high pruner.

The cutting action could be motivated by pulling the rope sharply downwards and if you were lucky the shoot fell to the ground if not poking tactics had to be employed to release the shoot and let it fall to the ground. Comment left on 01 March 2018 at 20:47 by John Keenleyside
