Dozer and Roller at Ferness Forest
Photograph courtesy of Sandy Gordon, Nairn, whose father James Gordon was a long service forester in the Forestry Commission latterly at Ferness Forest, Nairnshire. Sandy also worked for seven years with the Commission as a mechanic based at Longman workshop.
A small Track Marshall dozer, registration 104 GXE, and vibrating roller being dropped off at to work on the new road being built in Ferness Forest area near Airdrie in the Findhorn valley. Can anyone name the type of vibrating roller as it looks like a Track Marshall tractor bonnet and grill on the roller engine? Sandy thinks this machine was driven by Neil Duffy – can anyone confirm?
The wheels of the low loader driven by Jimmy Munro based at Blackstand in the Black Isle (which was at the time the main workshop in the area prior to the Longman) can just be seen on the bottom right.
