Garve Forest - Planting map
The map is courtesy of Forestry Commission at Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District.
This forest area is obviously part of a much larger acquisition in the Torrachilty Forest location much of which at the time may have been considered unsuitable for forestry, not available due to grazing restrictions or just in the process of being planned for more afforestation.
The planting in this area was carried out from 1962 to 1964 and the compartments run from 97 up to 116. The tree species is varied with Scots pine (SP), European larch (EL), Douglas fir (DF), Sitka spruce (SS) and Lodgepole pine (PC) planted over the area.
Any details or memories of planting this area would be very welcome.
