Unidentified sawmill
Photograph courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District with particular help from Lesley Hutcheson, Newton.
No information on this slide but could be Riddoch of Rothiemay mill at Mosstodloch. The large band saw on its own could indicate a facility for cutting special sized timber for small orders.
Can anyone identify the mill and the saw mill operator?

yes,Mostodloch - that was taken inside the big shed, when I worked there in the mid 80s there was a timber dressing machine that created planed, profiled, higher value product.the picture shows what was called the ‘resaw’...many’s the hour I spent ‘tailing’ to the sawyer on the other end, passing the partially sawn timber back to the sawyer for another pass until done.

Gordon Fraser from Elgin is the sawyer in the picture. Very good sawyer. He did all the re-sawing of seasoned battens.
