Riddoch of Rothiemay sawmill
Photograph courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District with particular help from Lesley Hutcheson, Newton.
Very little information on this slide other than RR which is taken to mean Riddoch of Rothiemay and the location could well be their Mosstodloch Mill. The surrounding trees could also indicate the Kinnoir sawmill location.
The sheds in the photograph look very new and may be in the process of being built. Note the long banks of ‘Celcure’ preservative treated logs and poles.
Ian Cameron of Ballater has suggested that the Forestry Commission Bedford TK lorry could date from the later 1970s but very difficult to be certain in this image. Can anyone identify the location and the year?
