An example of the effort required to extract timber from various locations, slopes and hard to reach places. Here a farmer’s field is being used to access a devastated wood where two mobile cranes are attempting to load a heavy log. The front machine appears to have a short tow rope to the front of the second to prevent the machine upending with the weight of the log.
Can anyone name the types of crane and their original use?

Originally rated at about 3 Tons they had short lives in Timber.
