Report No 5 Oliver Sulky (First Prototype)
Two files containing about 65 Head Quarters Mechanical Development Committee Reports from 1950 to 1958 were saved from destruction by Jim Christie former Forestry Commission HQ, Plant Engineer. This report No 5 confirms the trial of a sulky which was aimed at improving on the Cardiff type. The trial results were a bit mixed but could be said to be a step in the direction of the form in which they eventually developed. The circulations notes between Frank Oliver and R Bleukinsop have interesting references to roading densities and how these machines could be used.
