Vapourer Moth (Orgyia antique)
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and many are now shown on this web site. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
A nice shot of a larva of the Vapourer Moth which seems to favour a Mohican hair style. The larvae are notable for spinning silken mats over the branches of trees under which they continue to feed hidden from view.
