RLR Plough

RLR Plough

Date Added: 25 April 2007 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1950 Picture No: 169

Photograph courtesy of the family of the late Davy Anderson, former Chief Forester. Possibly taken in the Fetteresso area about 1950 or earlier. The RLR plough was developed in the late 30s and 40s with the active support of Lord Robinson the then Forestry Commission chairman. It was primarily used very successfully to plough dry heathlands and was ideal for long uninterupted runs being very cumbersome to lift and turn.
Does anyone remember this type of plough being used?
