Pika 52 Processor Kielder Forest
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. Check under ‘Groups’ and George Dey Collection.
A demonstration of an early Pika processor in Kielder Forest to foresters from many park of the UK. Here the Pika 52 had picked up a felled Norway spruce with the light grapple on its extending boom and dropped the butt into the clamping stripping jaws of a second extending arm. By holding with the first and pushing out with the second the tree is stripped of its branches and then passed through the large ring towards a pendulum cross cutting saw.
