Staff at Hallyburton Forest - 1954
Photograph courtesy of Jim Webster, Mosstodloch.
A few years after coming out of Forester Training School Jim was posted to Hallyburton Forest (near Couper Angus) under Randolph Hepburn who was the Head Forester. Randolph had the habit of writing all the day’s action and activity into a diary and it was impressed upon Jim that he had to fill in this diary without fail on the occasions when Randolph was away on holiday or other business.
Jim remembers there being quite a large hostel at the forest which catered for up to 8 or 9 men and had a full time resident cook.
This photograph shows some of the staff at the Forest in 1954 at what looks like Christmas dance as all a dressed in their finest. Very few names are remembered but standing at the back from the left are:
1. ? (Forest Ganger)
2. ? (Residential Cook)
3. Robbie Adams (At that time a Ganger heading for Forester School)
Sittting in front from left:
4. ? (Young Worker)
5. ? (Forest Trapper)
Any names to the above would be very welcome.
