Newton Nursery 1936
Images courtesy of Alan Duncan, Nursery Manager, Newton Nursery from a small collection of around 20 6x4 inch glass negatives that are stored at the nursery office and date from 1936. The land for the nursery was purchased by the forestry Commission in 1931 and the nursery formed very shortly after.
A field on the northern edge of the west section of the nursery being ploughed by a team of two horses. They appear to be ploughing towards a section of the nursery that juts northwards out from the main nursery. A set of harrows consisting of three grids joined onto a long wooden draw bar can be seen lying on the ploughed foreground.
The A96 runs among trees above the nursery shed.
