Series of documents on nutrition investigations in Culbin Forest
This was part of an archived file box recovered from old shed store at Newton by Malcolm Hobson and Ruaridh Maxwell of Forestry and Land Scotland.
The documents feature concerns on slow growth of the trees in some areas and the taking of sand and soil samples to determine the levels of nutrients present. There are also some details on a series of fertiliser and herbicide trials plus a survey of areas planted or replanted since 1968 will some very poor results. There is also a tree root profile survey carried out by Sandy Watson and the conclusion the fertilising Scots pine is not cost effective.
