Glenmore Forest Park - map and information circa 1969
The leaflet is one of a small number of older maps and information leaflets passed on by Brian Duff of Forestry and Land Scotland, North Region, Inverness.
Unfortunately the year of production of this leaflet is not known but any information on the year would be very welcome.
The leaflet begins by describing many of the recreational activities and locations in the Park and in the surrounding area including museums, osprey observation, archaeology, tennis as well as eating and dining and the Aviemore Centre attractions. It then describes three way marked Forest Trails each with numbered posts located along their sides that refers to more information in the leaflet:
Shore Trail
Pine Wood Trail
River Trail
Also described are four longer marked walks or Treks some of which are easy but some noted as arduous.
Serpent’s Loch Trek
Green Loch trek
Shepherds Hill trek
The Ridge Trek
There is a description of the topography, geology, plant, tree and animal life in Glenmore with a short forestry history, outline of forest operations and names of some of the more notable bird species. Finally there is a large hand drawn map of Glenmore area in a form of 3D perspective with all the trails and treks plus lochs and various buildings and camp sites delineated.
This copy of the leaflet has obviously been noted upon with hand written notes most likely in preparation for a new edition of the leaflet.
