Regulation Accident Book Naver Forest entries 1958-1988
A few filled in pages of the regulation Accident Book (Form B.1.510) have been scanned and added as a PDF which can be access via a link at the bottom of this text.
This record names workers who in the main suffered minor injuries in the course of their daily work and is thus both a record of the forest workers names and the forest activities they were engaged in. The 44 incidents recorded involved working with grass hooks (several incidents) and cuts with blade, lifting stones while fencing, lorry carrying men involved in a road traffic accident, unloading lorry loaded with culvert pipes, splinter injury when hammering in fence post, hammer injury while making gate, axe injury snedding birch, cut with crosscut saw, cut with rutter spade edge (several incidents) while draining, cut hand crossing a fence, dislocated knee while crossing legs during his lunch break, falling into founds of bridge being built, damaged fingers lifting a stone from drain bottom, knee injury getting down ladder from transport lorry, tractor driver slipping off tracks while climbing to cab, muscle strains while using draining spade, falling heavily while crossing ploughed ground, slipping on icy road, eye damage with wire while fencing and sprained wrist while planting trees.
Transport vehicle accident with workers on board indicates that in 1960 there were at least twelve workers employed at the forest not including trappers (rangers) or the Andersons at Dalharrold.
As this is deep into Mackay country the many Mackays named would have had bye names to demarcate them out from all the others. Any information on these as well would be very welcome.
