Foresters Alex MacLeman and Ian Mackay
Photograph courtesy of Don MacLeman showing his father Alex MacLeman (Front) and Ian Mackay at Strathcarron.
Alex MacLeman was forester for both North and South Strome forests at this time and Ian Mackay was forester at Achnashellach Forest. They used to meet up at Lochcarron on a regular basis.
An interesting footnote is that Alex had to cross from South to North Strome and vice versa by the old Strome Ferry – this was in the days before the Strome Bypass had been built.
On odd occasions Alex used the Forestry Commission launch to cross from South to North and back – Next photograph shows the launch.
Can anyone identify the vehicle type?

Definitely a Ford Van which I remember well ! Photo was taken at Lochcarron not Strathcarron. I have a photo of the old Strome Ferry which is mentioned and can be put on the Image Library if required.

Vehicle could be a Fordson pick up?

Definitely not a pick up but Fordson name may be correct. This was a very common vehicle used by the FC back in the late 40's, early 50's.
