Cairngorms National Nature Reserve - Information structure
The image is courtesy of Gavin Scorgie, Ardross. The year when the photograph was taken is uncertain but could be in the 1970s or 1980. The Cairngorms National Nature Reserve was apparently established in 1954 and covered an area about 100 square miles encompassing many of the mountains and high mountain tops in the area. No doubt it was judged at the time that the Reserve area held a wide range of flora and fauna species of significant national interest and is a core area of today’s National Park.
