Tigercat 630B safe and well following spot of bother with a peaty bog
The images are courtesy of owner Steven Mair who manages his business SJM Forestry based near Elgin and also tree feller Derek Dean of Huntly.
The Tigercat 630B team were clearing wind blown trees from the Ski trails in Clashindarroch Forest (possibly for the second or third time) to allow the cross country skiers to enjoy almost perfect snow conditions in winter of 2022/23. The ski trails lower edge area is next to a peat moss and the edges are quite soft. Once the surface is broken there is little to stop a 20 tonne machine from going deep down. With the help of a pull from one of his other machines and some continual very gentle operational slewing by Steven, the Tigercat slowly clambered from its wet lair.
Here Steven Mair is looking well pleased with a successful recovery. See the PDF photographs link below this text to appreciate how deeply the Tigercat had gone down.
