Alex “Sandy Rose MBE – The Genius of Ledmore
Michael Lawrence writes about Alex “Sandy” Rose MBE who revolutionised Forestry Commission nursery production, ploughing and crop rotation. The article includes many illustrations and descriptions of farming machinery.
Steam Returns to Broom
The article “Steam Returns to The Cock at Broom” by John Palmer, includes pictures of four steam road vehicles; a Sentinel steam lorry built in 1929, a Foden dropside wagon built in 1926, a Foden tractor, also built in 1926 and a steam omnibus.
Thetford Group Outing
Eric Rogers describes a Thetford Group outing in Suffolk with a trip on a motor vessel to Bawdsey.

Arthur Miller writes an appreciation of the influence Arnold Grayson had on his forestry career.
Letters to the Editor
Rob Guest sent a letter with a photograph of a commemorative planting at New Fancy in the Dean. Featured in the photograph are George Holmes, David Harris, Bart Venner, Les Troup, Bill Jones, Geoff Waygood, Trevor Lewis, Maurice Hall, Bob Powell and John Aldhous.
In the Winter 2015 FCA magazine, Graham Belton saw a photograph, sent in by Eric Rogers, of students from the Lynford FTS on exchange at Gwydyr in 1951-52 and believes his late father George ‘Bill’ Belton is one of the students in the picture. Graham sent in a photograph taken in Santon Downham between 1945 and 1953, possibly taken at the retirement of Mr Broach. Graham’s grandfather, Russell Mortlock was the forester at Tunstall Forest, Rendlesham at the time and is in the photograph. Among others in the photograph are Alfred Price, Mr Broach, Tubby Birkett, Mr C. A. Connell, Mr F. E. B. de Uphaugh (District Officer), Mr Hendrie snr, Mr Hendrie jnr, Jack Brooks and Chas Bloor.
A letter from Archie Smith recalls his time attending Dean FTS from 1965-1967. The Training Establishment Transport division and its head driver Ted Williams faced the brunt of pranks by the students, which involved ‘re-siting’ vehicles belonging to the Transport division.

Peter Webb reports on the death of Eric “Fuzzy” Everitt aged 92.
Arthur Miller recalls the life of Patrick Franklin Jefferson of Dolgellau who died on the 5th April 2017 aged 73 years.
Peter Webb reports the death of Mike Millman at the age of 85.
