Alexander (Sandy) Rose – Letter of recommendation from J D Robbie

This letter does provide information on Sandy Rose’s early forestry career in that he spent over 8 years from Dec 1923 at Monaughty Forest part of which was under the supervision of the same J D Robbie. It would appear that Sandy moved to the newly established Newton Nursery and perhaps into a new forestry house in 1932 as he and Mary married in 1928.
J D Robbie transferred from Monaughty to the Newton/Roseisle area in 1937. He later moved further east to Speymouth Forest and then Blackhall Forest. His son was Tom A Robbie, a District Officer and at one point Head of Glentress Forester Training School .
