The address indicates that A Mckenzie is Head Forester on The Earl of Feversham Estates near York. It is highly likely that he is also featured as No 17 sitting next to J D Robbie in the newspaper image on Picture Record No 1069. The letter mentions that he worked as foreman under foresters J McEwen and J D Robbie both foresters at Monaughty Forest. Another point he notes is that both he and Sandy Rose attended Forestry Classes and sat exams at the end of each session which seems to indicate that there was some type of formal forestry training in the area at the time. Is this Darnaway Estate?

The reasons for seeking the letters of recommendation are not clear but in another letter there is mention that Sandy was an applicant for the job of Keeper of Lands and Parks under the Town Council (Elgin?). At this time he was working in Newton Nursery under Head Forester John Cameron.
