Royal Highland Show setting up Forest Nursery exhibit
The images are courtesy of Michael Lawrence of Bankfoot whose grandfather, Sandy Rose, was Forester and Head Forester at Ledmore Forest Nursery from 1950 (when land was acquired) until his retirement in 1969.
A rare image of behind the scenes work involved in setting up an exhibit with a team of men from Ledmore Nursery digging in the poles and posts. The location or the year is not known as the Highland Show event was held in various places in Scotland over many years until the early 1960s when Ingliston was acquired in 1960 as the permanent site.
Part of the rustic fence can just be seen and may be in process of construction.
A string of logs joined together as a fence for the display boundary edge is seen lying on the ground close to the tractor. Uncertain if the tracked tractor is part of the display – Caterpillar?
Can any of the workers be named?
