Some documents were passed on from the family of Tom A Robbie who was the Forestry Training School principal at Glentress 1947-1953 and also at Faskally 1953-1955 and thereafter in Conservancy Office appointments in Scotland. The items were brought to the attention of Forestry Memories by Mairi McGeachy, Business Support Manager, Aberfoyle Office.

This 6 page document gives a little insight into the range of salary structures and the wide range of professions and departments within the civil service professional class and some attempts at reducing the many varying pay bands. Unusually there is even a little bit of humour in one section on the small reward for that essential knowledge on what grass seed should be sown! (Near bottom of Introductory section above).

The Forestry Commission is listed and in Grade Scale A, is District Officer II with salary band of £275 - £525 +£50; in Grade Scale B, District Officer I with salary band £525 - £650; and in Grade Scale C, Divisional Officer with salary band £750 - £1000 +£100 allowance.
