The film was forwarded by Syd House, Perthshire, who worked with David Woodburn as a junior District Officer in 1979. David Woodburn was at the time the District Officer for Inverness District and retired in 1981.

This film of the Fortingall Yew taken in 1964 with Fyfe Robertson of the BBC interviewing David Woodburn who was Forestry Commission District Officer for the area at this period. The main focus is the processes of estimating the age of the hollowed out tree with a time span of 1000s of years.
