New Timberjack 870 harvester possibly on trial test
The image is from a photograph collection that was originally stored at Kincardine Forest District.
This four wheel harvester equipped with 762B harvesting head appears of a size to work well in early thinnings. Possibly better suited to drier firmer forest ground conditions. This test trial may have taken place in Clashindarroch Forest in Buchan Forest District.

Even first thinning was back breaking work with a chainsaw especially in the heat of the summer. Just wish there had been a machine like this one back in the 1970's.
