Estate sawmill – unknown location and year
The image is from a collection of slides and photographs ‘rescued from the skip’ and handed to Forestry Memories. Generally very little information with or about them and for details we will have to rely on readers’ memories or geographical knowledge.
Great image of part of a sawmill site with quite a bit of activity going on. There appears to be a large volume of larch posts, round, half round and possibly some square cross section. There is a worker pointing posts in the little shed. The tractor with the large spade anchors has a registration ending in 972 with no suffix letter indicating pre 1963 registration. There is also a rail bogie system for taking the past around the stacking yard or into a pressure treating point.
The corner of a white castle tower may narrow down the location. Has some similarities to Atholl Estate’s sawmill at Blair Atholl and also a larch link as well but believed not to be that sawmill.
