Tom McLellan, Forester, Taynuilt, has compiled an intriguing and thought provoking article on the provision and management of deadwood.

Tom has set out some excellent pictorial examples of naturally occurring dead wood but more interestingly of the managed provision of ‘deadwood’ in a series of clearfell sites. See the PDF below.
Do Tom’s examples go far enough or too far? Should foresters and owners be leaving much more live wood, dying wood and rotting wood on every site harvested?
