Retirement of Duncan Green - Culbin Forest Worker
The photograph is courtesy of Myra Younie who maintained a collection of Forestry Commission event and retirement photographs when she worked in the forestry offices in Morayshire. Note that LOM refers to Laigh of Moray forest Unit which included Culbin, Monaughty, Roseisle as well as Newton forestry areas.
Duncan Green lived in Nairn. Latterly he worked at times with Jimmy Sutherland at west end of Culbin mostly on forest management work, planting and restocking as well as drains and forest path maintenance. He was almost the last of the actual Culbin Forest squad who had a long history of establishing forests on the sand dunes and subsequently harvesting the trees.
