Cross draining team and equipment Loch Craggie, Benmore, Shin Forest
The photographs are courtesy of Donnie Stirling, Tomich, who was a ploughing tractor driver for a number of years. Photographs provide with help from Sandra Reid.
This image taken about 1969 shows Donnie Stirling beside a new looking Parkgate Humpy draining plough with a right hand throw draining furrow head. The plough was pulled by two Track Marshall 55 tractors just seen off shot (featured in next image).
The site is on the south side of the A839 on the high point between Oykel Bridge and Ledmore Junction close to Loch Craggie and local landmark known as the Tramps Cairn. In the back ground are the nearer summits of some of the Ben More Assynt tops including Ben More in the middle background.
The land was part of Benmore Forest a western part of the large management unit of Shin Forest.
