Trouble in the Glen – Bogged near Loch Carron

Excavator is well down in soft peat and Geordie comments: “Debogging the Komatsu 20 tonne digger at Loch Carron. The Komatsu excavator had slid down the slope behind the small excavator and was then instructed to cross the flat and of course the inevitable happened.
Andrew Allan had all the gear I must admit. When you put the snatch block on it slows the gearing down and you also need to clear the site for tractors to sit on or they just slide along the ground.
The light weight digger was hired to dig away some of the peat so that Ian Scorgie could get down to burn a hole in the chassis to get a shackle and a sling on it. Brute force after that! I think it is Ian Scorgie who is standing there. It is a great feeling when it starts to come out – I have done it many times.”
The PDF below shows the Komatsu emerging from the peat hole and being pulled to firmer ground to be cleaned up and checked over.
