Former Loch Kennard Lodge location in Griffin Forest
The image of the Lodge was sent in by Leif Brag, Senior Wildlife Manager for Tilhill Forestry.
Leif says the comment below the image regarding Duleep Singh's record of bagging the greatest number of grouse shot by one man in a single day “was also the most grouse shot over pointers on one day. Apparently he was very overweight at the time and was riding on a pony from point to point".
The lodge as stated fell into disrepair and hardly any trace of the site was recognisable by the end of 20th century. The area and loch is now part of Griffin Forest.
The PDF contains another early view of the lodge.

Aye Robert Patrick,
If you use the National Library of Scotland's map images website, select the Ordnance Survey, Six Inch 1888-1915 series of maps and enter one of the following co-ordinate combinations, you should be able to see the location of the Loch Kennard Lodge, with its associated buildings etc. as they were surveyed in 1899 and the map being published in 1901.
British National Grid Ref: NN 90577 46331
BNG Eastings, Northings: 290577, 746331
Latitude, Longitude: 56.596072, -3.783679
If you select to view the map image over the top of the ESRI World Image, a slider in the lower left-hand corner of the window allows you to alter the transparency of the overlying OS map, so that you can view how the current Griffin Forest now covers the site.
I hope this helps you visualise the lodge's previous location.
Good health Bill Rayner
