Hand Loading Bowater Pulp at Brandon Depot
Photograph is courtesy of Jim Christie, Crook of Devon, a former senior mechanical engineer in the Forestry Commission.
Lovely image of machines and men hand loading timber from trailer to lorry. Note the Fordson tractor and the narrow timber trailer FC No 1737 designed for hand cross loading of the timber pieces from Thetford Forest. No need for physical exercises in those days!
Any information on the lorry type and the year would be very welcome.

Can you imagine what it was like to drive that lorry with that size of load and no power steering.
