Ford Tractor with Atlas loader
Photograph is courtesy of Jim Christie, Crook of Devon, a former senior mechanical engineer in the Forestry Commission.
No information on this machine, its location or the year. By this time there was a demand for timber moving capabilities in forests by a means other than dragging along the ground or by cable crane. On harder drier ground forests, tractors and trailer were used. On forests using cable cranes, the facility to move the piles of timber from behind the tractor was often an urgent requirement. The title indicates Larkhall as the location?
Any information on this machine would be very welcome and perhaps the makes and models of vehicles shown in the car park?
