A fine view of a FC64017 as it performs in front of a professional audience kept back at a safe distance. As there is no information with this image the year and location is not certain. However this particular harvester according to comments in other places on this website arrived in Scotland about 1985 and was first trialled in Dalbeattie Forest before heading for West Argyll Forest District and possibly Knapdale Forest.

The ridged terrain and the height that the photographer is above the machine do lead one to consider that this site could possibly be in Knapdale. Can anyone confirm?

Unfortunately the people are too distant to indentify easily but may be worth a look on the large image.

Doesn't look like this picture was taken during trials at Dalbeattie. 3 reasons why; Tree size is too small, the Dalbeattie trial site had a very large tree size. Hard to see but looks like it has the FC logo on the side of the bonnet, but the harvester would still be owned by OSA on the trial. And finally the operator is wearing a hard hat - I don't recall the OSA demo driver who was on it at Dalbeattie ever wearing one. Comment left on 30 April 2020 at 20:47 by Iain Gale
