Tractors Bogged at the Lochans near Lairg
Photograph is courtesy of Jim Christie, Crook of Devon, a former senior mechanical engineer in the Forestry Commission.
A small collection of images of the D4 ploughing tractors bogged at the Lochans near Lairg. The images may have been taken a day or two previous to the sequence taken by Charlie MacNeil (Picture Nos 154-160) and show the predicament of the more seriously bogged of the two tractors with the water rising quickly around and over much of it.
Not sure of action happening here or who the people are but the tractor out on the left could be attempting to pull the tractor which has all the people about it. The Muskeg is back right with perhaps Sandy Allison (Foreman Mechanic at Lairg Workshop) in green waterproofs in line with it. The tall chap close to tractor could be Frank Thom, Head Forester, at Lairg.
