Rannoch Forest – Clearing snow from fences
The images were courtesy of Sandy Sandilands, Banchory, who spent a short period of his early career at Rannoch.
Here the squad (all members from the Rannoch Forest hostel)are clearing snow off a deer fence on Rannoch Moor and looking across the Moor to the top of Glen Coe & Buachaille Etive Mor. This particular winter was long and cold with frosts down to zero Fahrenheit and periodic snow falls and wind from December 1962 until well into March 1963.
Can anyone name the members of forestry team?
Any more stories of hard winters?
