Heavy plough off lorry at Cloich Forest
The photographs are courtesy of Stuart Mitchell, Peebles area, who formerly worked at Glentress Forest.
This photograph and the sequence shown in the attached PDF show the experimental rotary plough mounted on the large Forest Research based Caterpillar D7 tractor MGM 581L. The unit appears to have slipped off its transporting lorry trailer registration number VLL258G or it may have slipped while unloading and has hung up on the frame of the trailer.
The forest must have been chosen as one of the trial sites for this plough around 1974? In the PDF note the side cables restraining the trailer from tipping over. The cables could be from two Fiat tractors seen in record No 4163
Can any of the men be named?
