‘Sample log of Flamy birch from Strathtummel, Perthshire. Age 70 years. Diam 15ins UB.’

Now named as Betula pendula or Silver birch this specimen has a very attractive ripple grain here called ‘Flamy Birch’. In the photograph collection there were a number of images of this type of birch but sourced from Europe indicating at one point a Research interest in this product.

Any comments and knowledge on its use in furniture would be very welcome.
